Marcin Piatkowski, is a Professor of Economics at Kozminski University in Warsaw, the highest-ranked business school in Central and Eastern Europe, and a Lead Economist at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. In this role, he supports countries in improving their business environment, fostering innovation, and advancing green development. Previously, he served as Chief Economist and Managing Director of PKO BP, the largest bank in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as an economist in the European Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Advisor to an IMF Executive Director. Earlier in his career, he was Advisor to Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance. From 1996 to 2000, he worked in corporate banking in Poland and the United States, eventually becoming a Senior Manager at Citibank Poland. He is the author of Europe's Growth Champion: Insights from the Economic Rise of Poland, which received widespread acclaim. The book won the National Bank of Poland’s competition for “Best Book in Economic Education”, was awarded “Best Book in Economics” by the Polish Academy of Sciences, and has been endorsed by leading global economists. It has been reviewed by the Financial Times and translated into Polish and Chinese.
