In moments of self-doubt, Patricia Bible would repeat to herself a rhyme she used to tuck her children in at night: "You are as good as the best and better than the rest."The co-founder and CEO of KaTom Restaurant Supply says the "trick” is not unlike setting her clock 30 minutes fast to ensure she’s on time. "It made all the difference,” she says. "It was one of those ways I learned to trick myself.” Bible tells the story from her corner office at KaTom’s new 100,000-square-foot headquarters, showroom and warehouse in Sevier County’s Kodak community, less than a mile from the Tennessee Smokies baseball stadium off Interstate 40. The move represents a big step from the 25,000-square-foot warehouse where the company moved after outgrowing she and her late husband’s garage where they started the business 26 years ago. "A huge portion of making the move — and this was monstrous to me — was to pass this company from one generation to the next,” she says. "I’m certainly not ready to step out — I’m not saying that — but I do know that time will come, and I wanted them to be ready.” No doubt that KaTom needed the room to grow.”
