Professional Bio
Banu Asik Elizondo is a senior client strategist for BNY Mellon Wealth Management. In this role, she works directly with clients to address their investment and wealth management needs. Banu joined the firm in 2023 and has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Before joining BNY Mellon, Banu was a Managing Director and Private Client Advisor with Bank of America Private Bank (fka U.S. Trust). Prior to her role at Bank of America Private Bank, Banu was a Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for emerging markets sovereign debt portfolios at Invesco Advisers and Voya Financial (fka ING Investment Management US). She also served as a mutual fund manager in respective asset classes for both firms and was often quoted as a thought leader in several financial publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Barron's and Bloomberg. Prior to assuming responsibilities as a Portfolio Manager in 2011, Banu was a Senior Credit Analyst covering infrastructure investments for ING Investment Management US high yield/ distressed debt group. Banu started her career as a sell-side credit analyst at Wells Fargo Securities (fka Wachovia Securities). Banu holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Duke University and continues to be an active member of the Duke community as a member of the advisory board for the Duke Annual Fund and as a member of Duke Women's Impact Network. She also serves on the boards of Ian’s Friends Foundation (IFF) for pediatric brain tumor research and Children’s Heathcare of Atlanta (CHOA) Emerging Leaders.
